Schluter Windows & Doors: The Fresno Owner’s Guide
We stock and install Schluter-compatible windows and doors throughout Fresno, and a typical replacement runs $4,500 to $15,000 depending on the unit and what the opening needs. Most homeowners discover the problem the same way: a door that suddenly drags on the Schluter transition strip, a window that fogs between the panes, or a frame corner that no longer seals against the Valley summer heat. The part itself is rarely the whole story, which is why we price the full repair with labor and flashing included before any work starts.
What usually brings someone to this page is a failed gasket, a cracked KERDI collar where the flange meets the rough opening, or a threshold that has warped after years of Fresno sun on the west side of the house. We have seen all three enough times to know exactly what to look for, and we will tell you plainly whether the fix is a part swap or a full unit replacement.
Which Schluter Models This Applies To

Schluter does not manufacture windows or doors as standalone units. What they make is the waterproofing and transition system that sits around them: KERDI-Flex sealing collars, DILEX movement joints, and the RENO and SCHIENE edge profiles that bridge window sills and door thresholds to the surrounding tile or flooring. If you have a Schluter-branded rough opening system in your Fresno home, the compatible parts depend on the profile series and the depth of the substrate.
Here is the gotcha most people miss: DILEX-BWA and DILEX-EKE movement joints are not interchangeable across different tile thicknesses. The profile has a specific height range stamped on the packaging, and if you substitute the wrong one, the joint will either sit proud of the tile or leave a lip that catches toes and chair legs. Before we order anything, we measure the tile depth, the joint width, and the substrate type. We carry the common DILEX profiles and KERDI-FLEX collars on the truck, but a specialty profile with an anodized finish will usually take three to five days to arrive in Fresno.
We are an independent service provider, not a Schluter dealer or affiliate. When an OEM part is backordered or discontinued, we will tell you what a quality aftermarket equivalent can and cannot do, then let you decide. On waterproofing collars and movement joints, our preference is always the Schluter part. The tolerances matter, and we do not take chances with the part that keeps water out of your wall.

Signs Your Schluter Windows & Doors Is Failing
- Fogging or trapped moisture between glass panes. The edge seal on the insulated glass unit has failed. Once that seal goes, no amount of Fresno dry heat will fix the fog permanently; the unit needs replacement.
- A door or window that sticks or drags at the threshold. The DILEX joint or transition profile has shifted out of alignment, often because the substrate underneath shifted during a wet winter. Adjusting it is sometimes enough, but a bent profile will keep binding until it is replaced.
- Water staining or soft drywall below a window corner. The KERDI-Flex collar or the flashing tape has degraded, and water is finding its way behind the stucco before it reaches the sill. By the time you see the stain, the leak has been active for a while.
- Cracked or crumbling grout lines around the sill edge. Without a movement joint like DILEX, tile and grout take every bit of thermal expansion on their own. Central Valley swings from 40 degrees in January to 105 in July will crack rigid grout inside a few seasons.
- A threshold that has pulled away from the door frame. The framing has settled or the original install used the wrong profile. Water pools in the gap, and within a season or two you will see rot starting in the subfloor.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For Fresno homeowners, a full window replacement with Schluter-compatible sealing runs $4,500 to $15,000 depending on unit count, frame material, and the condition of the rough opening. A door threshold repair with a new DILEX profile and KERDI-Flex collar typically falls between $800 and $2,500 when the framing is sound. If the opening needs reframing, the cost moves toward the middle of that replacement range.
| Scope | Typical Range in Fresno |
|---|---|
| Threshold / transition profile replacement (single door) | $800 – $2,500 |
| KERDI-Flex collar replacement around one window | $600 – $1,800 |
| Full window replacement (Schluter-compatible sealing, multiple units) | $4,500 – $15,000 |
| Door unit replacement with new Schluter transitions | $4,500 – $9,000 |
Every quote includes the part, the labor, the flashing and waterproofing materials, and a written price before anything comes off the truck. No change orders that show up after the crew starts, no line item that appears halfway through the job. If we find something inside the wall we did not expect, we stop, show you, and give you a new written price before we proceed. The work itself is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it is not right, we make it right.
DIY or Call Us?
You can inspect a handful of things safely. Look for cracked grout, check for gaps between the threshold and the flooring, and run your hand along the frame corner after a rain to feel for dampness. What you should not do is attempt to pull a window unit or door threshold yourself. The sealant and flashing underneath are load-bearing waterproofing, and a wrong cut means water inside the wall cavity where you will not see it until the drywall sags.
Most Schluter profile and collar work involves cutting aluminum or stainless steel to tight tolerances, which is loud, dirty, and easy to get wrong. We bring drop cloths, shoe covers, and the right saw blades, and we keep the noisiest cutting to the hours the family is out of the house where possible. If you want to watch the whole thing happen, we will walk you through each step before we do it. Call (559) 540-8453 and we will schedule a free estimate, written in full before we touch anything.
FAQs

Expect 20 to 30 years for the window or door unit itself, and 10 to 15 years for the transition profiles and KERDI collars around it. Fresno’s UV load shortens the lifespan of sealants and plastic components, especially on west- and south-facing openings. Call (559) 540-8453 for an exact assessment, and we will give you a straight answer on what needs attention now versus what can wait.
Sometimes. A gasket that has shrunk can be replaced, and a DILEX profile that has lifted can often be reset. But a fogged glass unit, a cracked KERDI collar, or a bent aluminum profile cannot be meaningfully repaired, and we will not patch something that needs to keep water out. Call (559) 540-8453 and we will tell you which category your part falls into before any work is scheduled.
A single profile or collar replacement usually takes a half day. A full window or door unit replacement takes one to two days, including waterproofing, trim, and cleanup. We give you a written timeline before we start, and we update it if a material delivery slips.
We keep the common DILEX profiles, KERDI-Flex collars, and transition strips on the truck. Specialty finishes and nonstandard profiles take three to five days to arrive. You will know at the time of the estimate which category your part falls into, and the written price already includes any ordering time.
