Owens Corning Driveway & Pavers: The Fresno Owner’s Guide
We stock and install Owens Corning-compatible driveway materials and pavers across Fresno, with typical projects running between $7,000 and $18,000 for a full paver driveway installation. Most Fresno homeowners call us after one of three things happens: a paver starts sinking at the edge near the street, a seam opens up between the driveway and the garage slab, or the surface has faded to that chalky gray that happens after enough 100-degree summers. Here’s what to know before you start pricing a fix.
We’re an independent remodeling contractor in Fresno, not a division of Owens Corning. That matters because it means we can recommend the right Owens Corning product for your driveway without pushing one brand over another. It also means we can tell you honestly when a different paver or surface material would hold up better on your particular lot.
Which Owens Corning Models This Applies To

Owens Corning entered the pavers market through their acquisition of Cultured Stone and related hardscape lines, and the driveway-compatible products fall under the Owens Corning Pavers and Owens Corning Roofing accessory umbrella. The most common products we see on Fresno driveways are the interlocking concrete pavers in the 60mm and 80mm thickness ranges, along with the permeable paver lines designed for stormwater runoff compliance in newer Fresno subdivisions.
The compatibility gotcha most owners miss: Owens Corning pavers use a tongue-and-groove edge profile on certain series that is not interchangeable with generic big-box pavers. If your driveway was installed with the interlocking series, a replacement paver from a different manufacturer will not seat correctly, and over time the seam will widen and shift. Take a photo of the paver’s side profile before you buy anything. The thickness, the edge shape, and the color code (usually stamped on the underside of the paver) are the three things that determine what fits.
OEM vs. aftermarket: for pavers, we nearly always recommend OEM matching because the color and edge profile are exact. Aftermarket equivalents exist, but in the Fresno sun, a color mismatch becomes visible within eighteen months as the two materials fade at different rates. The OEM cost is maybe 15 to 20 percent more, but the driveway looks consistent for the life of the surface.

Signs Your Owens Corning Driveway & Pavers Are Failing
- Edge pavers tipping toward the street or lawn. This is almost always a base failure under the paver’s outer row. Fresno’s clay-heavy soil expands and contracts with moisture, and if the original installer skipped the edge restraint, the pavers migrate outward over two or three rainy seasons.
- A low spot that puddles after irrigation or rain. Water pooling means the compacted base has settled unevenly. In Fresno, this often traces back to a sprinkler line leak that washed out the base from underneath, softening the soil the pavers sit on.
- Cracks running through multiple pavers in a straight line. This is not a paver failure, it’s a structural crack in the concrete sub-base telegraphing through. The pavers are just showing you what happened underneath them.
- Chalky white residue on the surface. Efflorescence from mineral migration is common on Owens Corning concrete pavers in Fresno’s dry climate. It’s cosmetic, not structural, and a proper cleaning with the right product will remove it, but it keeps coming back if the drainage beneath the surface never gets fixed.
- Weeds or ants pushing up between pavers. Joint sand has failed or was never installed at the right depth. In Fresno, ants in particular love paver joints because the sand stays dry and warm. The fix is re-sanding with polymeric sand, but only after the base is stabilized.
Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Our Fresno paver driveway installations run from $7,000 to $18,000 all-in, including tear-out of the old surface, base prep, paver supply, installation, edge restraint, and polymeric joint sand. A partial repair, where we replace a failed section of 100 to 300 square feet, typically falls between $1,500 and $4,000 depending on how much of the base has to be rebuilt.
What drives the range: driveway size, paver thickness (60mm vs. 80mm), whether we need to correct drainage, and whether the existing base is salvageable. Some Fresno driveways from the 1980s and 1990s were poured without rebar, and if that concrete sub-base has cracked through, the demo and haul-away is the biggest variable.
Every quote from Graham Stein is a written price before any work starts. It includes the specific paver series by name, the square footage, the base depth, and the warranty date. No crew shows up and “discovers” the job costs more. What’s on the paper is what you pay.

Pavers are one of the few driveway materials where careful DIY replacement of a single paver is genuinely possible, provided the base under that paver is still solid. You can pry up a cracked paver with a flat bar, reset it in fresh bedding sand, and re-sand the joints. If the base is soft, or the pavers around it have shifted, or you’re dealing with more than three or four pavers, do not keep digging. A paver driveway that’s losing its base gets worse every time it rains, and Fresno’s winter rain pattern tends to reveal a small problem as a big one by March.
What we would never do ourselves: run a plate compactor over an old Fresno driveway with unknown underground utilities, or try to level pavers without checking the slope away from the house first. The slope matters more than the surface. If water has ever pooled against your foundation during a heavy rain, that’s a drainage correction project, not a paver swap. FAQs

Expect 25 to 40 years of functional life from a properly installed Owens Corning paver driveway in Fresno. The pavers themselves are rated for this, and the base, if done right, outlasts the color. The surface will fade in the UV, but the structure holds.
Call (559) 540-8453 and we can look at your specific install, including how the original base was built.
Yes, if the failure is limited to a section of pavers and the base under that section is stable, a sectional repair is an option we quote regularly. If the base has failed across more than about a third of the driveway, replacement usually costs less per square foot than repeated repairs.
We’ll tell you which one applies to your driveway after looking at it in person. Estimates are free.
Most full paver driveway installations in Fresno take four to seven working days from demo to final compaction, depending on the size and whether we’re replacing the base entirely. Weather rarely delays us; our bigger variable is any drainage work the driveway needs.

We keep the most common Owens Corning paver series and replacement components in stock locally in Fresno, and we can have less common colors and sizes from the Owens Corning distribution network within one to two weeks. We do not keep every color on the truck, so we verify your paver’s color code before we commit to a date.
