KraftMaid Fence Installation: The Fresno Owner’s Guide
KraftMaid fence installation in Fresno typically runs $3,500 to $9,000 for a complete installed fence, depending on the footage, style, and whether we’re replacing posts or just panels. We stock KraftMaid-compatible vinyl fence panels and posts on our trucks, and most standard repairs can be handled the same day we visit. The usual way owners discover a problem is gradual: a gate starts dragging, a post has visible lean after a wet winter, or a panel cracked during a windstorm off the Sierra foothills and now the neighbor’s dog has an opinion about it.
Before we get any further: Elmstead Remodeling Fresno is an independent remodeling contractor. We are not a KraftMaid dealer or warranty center, and we do not speak for KraftMaid. What we do is install and repair KraftMaid-style vinyl fencing correctly, with a written price before anything comes off the truck.
Which KraftMaid Models This Applies To

The KraftMaid vinyl fence line in California is sold through a handful of regional suppliers, and the compatibility issue owners hit most often is profile depth. KraftMaid panels come in two common thicknesses: a 1.5-inch residential profile and a 2-inch profile used on taller privacy runs. A post routed for the 1.5-inch panel will not accept a 2-inch panel without shimming, and the shimmed look is the first thing a Fresno summer exposes when the vinyl expands. If you have the original paperwork, the product code starts with “KF” followed by a series number. If you don’t, measure the panel thickness at its edge with a tape measure, not at the routed tongue. The tongue will fool you.
For replacement parts, OEM KraftMaid panels hold their color match better over a Fresno decade of UV than most aftermarket equivalents, but the cost difference is meaningful. We’ll price both and tell you when the aftermarket panel is a false economy, which happens most often with light colors like white and tan that yellow at different rates depending on the manufacturer’s stabilizer blend.

Signs Your KraftMaid Fence Installation Is Failing
- Gate dragging on the latch side. Usually a post that has settled out of plumb, not a hinge problem. In Fresno’s clay soil, summer irrigation and winter rain cycle the soil enough to move a post that was set shallow. We see it most in the Tower District and Fig Garden, where lot lines are tight and soil gets saturated near raised planters.
- Panel cracked at a routed corner. This is a stress crack from thermal expansion. Vinyl panels grow and shrink with temperature, and a panel fastened too tightly to the post will crack at its weakest routed point within a few seasons. Fresno’s 100-degree summer days accelerate this.
- Post lean of more than a few degrees. A post that moves every time the wind picks up has lost its footing, either from shallow concrete or a rotted wood insert. In older Fresno neighborhoods we find fences set directly in dirt with no concrete at all.
- White streaks running down a panel. This is oxidation releasing from the vinyl surface, common on fences eight to twelve years old that face full western sun. The panel is not failing structurally, but the finish is breaking down and it will get chalky.
- Gate no longer closes in winter. The latch post swells with moisture or the gate itself has absorbed enough water to change its swing arc. Vinyl does not absorb water, but the internal wood or composite stiffener inside the gate route does.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

A full KraftMaid-style fence replacement in Fresno runs $3,500 to $9,000 for a typical residential yard. Where you land in that range depends on three things: total linear footage, the number of gates, and whether the existing posts can be reused. Reusing posts saves real money but only makes sense if they are still plumb and the routed channels are intact. We will tell you when a post is worth saving and when it is not.
Every price we quote includes removal and haul-away of the old fence, new concrete set at the proper depth for Fresno’s soil, the panels and posts themselves, and the gate hardware adjusted so the gate latches without a shoulder bump. The written price you get before we start is the price on the invoice. No change orders for things we should have caught in the walkthrough. The work is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise, which means if something is not right after the fence is up, we come back and make it right.
A quick reference for what you might pay in Fresno:
- Single panel replacement: $180 – $420 installed, depending on panel width and height.
- Post replacement only: $220 – $500 installed, including new concrete set to depth.
- Gate replacement with new hardware: $350 – $850 installed, adjusted and swinging clean.
- Full fence replacement, 150 – 250 linear feet: $3,500 – $9,000 installed, with haul-away.
DIY or Call Us?
Vinyl fencing is not a high-tension system the way a garage door spring is, so there is not the same injury risk. The honest answer is that some of this you can check yourself, and some of it will fight you. You can measure panel thickness, inspect posts for plumb with a level, and note where cracks are forming. What goes wrong for a homeowner is trying to reset a post without the right depth or concrete mix, or forcing a panel that has expanded into a channel that is too tight. In a Fresno summer that panel is at its largest, and forcing it now means a crack by October.
If the fence is leaning, cracking in more than one panel, or the gate has stopped latching, call us at (559) 540-8453. We’ll put eyes on it and write down what we find. Write it down before anything comes off the truck.
FAQs

A properly installed KraftMaid-style vinyl fence lasts 20 to 25 years in Fresno’s climate, with color fading and some surface oxidation starting around year eight to ten on west-facing runs. The fence will outlast a wood fence by roughly double, but the gate hardware will need replacement every five to seven years. Call (559) 540-8453 if your fence is at the point where multiple panels need attention and you want an honest read on repair versus replacement.
A hairline crack can sometimes be stabilized with a vinyl patch kit, but the repair is visible and will show faster sun damage than the surrounding panel. In most cases a replacement panel is the better call, especially in a color like white or tan where patch lines stand out. We’ll give you both prices and let you decide.
A single panel replacement takes under two hours including clean-up. A single post reset takes half a day because the new concrete needs to set before we re-hang the panel. A full fence replacement takes one to three days depending on footage and gate count.
We carry common KraftMaid-compatible panel widths, post sizes, and gate hardware on our trucks, and we can order OEM panels when a specific color or profile needs to match exactly. Same-day service is often possible for standard replacements. Call (559) 540-8453 and describe what you’re seeing; we’ll tell you over the phone whether it sounds like a truck-stock fix or an order-in part.
