Dvele Driveway & Pavers: The Fresno Owner’s Guide
We stock and install Dvele-compatible driveway and paver components throughout Fresno, with most replacements running $7,000 – $18,000 installed for a full paver driveway and $4,500 – $12,000 for concrete depending on square footage, base condition, and access. Most Fresno owners discover a driveway or paver problem the same way: a paver has shifted out of line, water is pooling where it never pooled before, or a section of the drive has settled enough that the garage approach scrapes. The good news is that Dvele’s driveway systems use standard paver profiles and concrete specifications, which means we can typically source what the original build used without a long lead time.
Elmstead Remodeling Fresno is an independent service provider. We are not affiliated with Dvele, but we work with Dvele homes regularly and know how these exterior systems were specified.
Which Dvele Models This Applies To

Dvele homes in the Fresno area typically fall into two driveway categories. The first is a concrete pour, usually 4 inches thick with rebar or wire mesh, finished with a broom texture for slip resistance. The second is a paver system, most commonly a 2-3/8-inch-thick interlocking concrete paver in a 4×8 or 6×9 profile, over a compacted aggregate base. Both are consistent with what Dvele specifies across their California builds, which makes parts matching straightforward if you know what to look for.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha most owners miss: Dvele paver driveways often use a restrained-edge system, meaning the perimeter pavers are set on a concrete haunch rather than a plastic edge restraint. If you are replacing a border paver, you need to know whether that edge is concrete-set or sand-set before ordering. We check that on site. For concrete driveways, the key spec is the joint pattern. Dvele typically spaces control joints at 8 to 10 feet. If your cracking is happening at an unjointed point, the repair approach changes.
On the OEM versus aftermarket question: for pavers, the Dvele original is usually a name-brand interlocking paver from a major California manufacturer, and a matching aftermarket equivalent from the same manufacturer is functionally identical. For concrete, there is no “OEM” in the traditional sense. The material is mixed and placed on site, so what matters is the mix design and the base preparation, not a part number.

Signs Your Dvele Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Settling or a low spot near the garage apron. Fresno’s clay-heavy soil expands and contracts with moisture, and if the base was not compacted in lifts during the original build, you get a visible dip within the first few seasons. Water pools, and the dip grows.
- Pavers rocking underfoot or shifting out of line. This usually means the sand bedding has washed out from beneath the pavers, often near a downspout or where irrigation overspray hits the edge of the drive. Once one paver moves, its neighbors follow.
- Hairline cracking spreading in a concrete drive, especially radiating from a corner. Fresno’s summer heat makes concrete cure fast. If control joints were cut too late or too shallow, the slab finds its own way to crack. A crack wider than a quarter inch means water is getting under the slab and working the base.
- White, chalky residue on the surface of pavers. This is efflorescence, common in Fresno where irrigation water pulls minerals up through the paver. It is cosmetic, but it signals water moving through the system in a way it should not.
- An edge paver or row of pavers that has separated from the driveway and now sits proud of the field. Fresno’s freeze-thaw cycle is mild, but the real culprit is usually a vehicle drifting onto the edge and overloading the restraint. Once the edge fails, the entire field loses containment.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For Fresno homeowners, a full paver driveway replacement runs $7,000 – $18,000 installed. A concrete driveway replacement is $4,500 – $12,000. Paver patio work lands at $3,500 – $11,000, and driveway sealing, which is the one maintenance item we recommend every two to three years in this climate, is $250 – $700.
What moves the number: square footage, whether we are removing an existing failed base or starting with clean soil, the thickness of the aggregate base we install (we go 4 to 6 inches of crushed stone compacted in lifts, because Fresno soil does not forgive shortcuts), and access. If the paver border is concrete-set, that adds labor. If the driveway is on a slope, that adds labor too.
Every quote is a written line-item price before any work starts. That is not a courtesy. That is the rule. You will know what the pavers cost, what the base costs, what haul-away costs, and what labor costs. And the work carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise. If it is not done right, we make it right.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things yourself. Walk the driveway after a rain and note where water pools. Look at the edge restraints and see if any paver has shifted. Run a hose slowly over a suspicious area and watch whether the water drains or stands. Those observations help us quote accurately over the phone.
Where DIY goes wrong is the base. Lifting a few pavers to “fix” a soft spot without addressing the compaction underneath means the repair fails in the same place, usually within a year. And for concrete, cutting and patching a section without matching the mix or the finish leaves you with a two-tone driveway that still cracks at the new cold joint. You also do not want to be moving hundreds of pounds of paver without the right equipment, not in Fresno summer heat.
If you want us to look at it, call (559) 540-8453. We will tell you straight whether it is a $250 sealing job or a full base rebuild, and we will write the price down before anything comes off the truck.
FAQs

A properly installed paver driveway in Fresno should last 25 to 30 years, with the pavers themselves often outlasting the base, and the base is what fails first here due to our clay soil and irrigation patterns. A concrete driveway should last 20 to 25 years, provided the control joints were cut correctly and the base was compacted properly. Call (559) 540-8453 if you want us to evaluate what you have now.
Yes, in many cases a localized settlement can be corrected by lifting the affected pavers, re-compacting the base, and re-setting them, which typically costs far less than a full replacement. If the failure is widespread, meaning more than about 20 percent of the surface, or the base has eroded at the edges, replacing the entire system is usually the more honest long-term fix. Call (559) 540-8453 and we will tell you which category you are in.
A typical concrete driveway replacement takes 3 to 5 working days including demolition, base prep, pour, and cure time before you can park on it, and a paver driveway usually takes 3 to 4 days with no cure wait, so you can drive on it the day we finish. Weather and the size of the job move the schedule. Call (559) 540-8453 for a written estimate with a clear project calendar.
We stock the most common interlocking paver profiles used in Dvele builds across the Fresno area, and for less common colors or borders we source from the same California manufacturers within a few days. If you need one paver replaced, we can usually match it. If you need two hundred, we order them ahead of the install date so the job does not stall.
If your Dvele driveway or pavers are showing any of the signs above, or you just want a second set of eyes on something that does not look right, call (559) 540-8453. We will look, we will listen, and we will write down the price before any work starts. Shoe covers and drop cloths on every visit, a photo of the clean-up before the crew leaves, and a crew that asks before we move anything. That is how we work in Fresno.
