Cover Kitchen Remodeling: The Fresno Owner’s Guide
If you have a Cover-branded kitchen setup that is failing, we can help you sort out whether it is a repair or a full replacement. In Fresno, a complete Cover-compatible kitchen remodel runs $14,000 to $45,000 installed, depending on cabinet count, countertop material, and whether you are changing the layout. Most homeowners discover something is wrong the same way: a cabinet door starts sagging, a hinge no longer closes square, or a countertop seam has opened up and started catching crumbs and water.
We are not affiliated with Cover. What we are is a Fresno remodeling contractor that works on kitchens built with Cover components, and we see the same failure points year after year. The good news is that most of them are predictable, and several of them are fixable without tearing everything out. The guide below walks through how to identify what you have, what is likely wrong, and what it will cost to make it right.
Signs Your Cover Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing
- Cabinet doors no longer close flush against the face frame. Cover cabinet lines often use adjustable cup hinges (commonly a 35mm bore), and when the adjustment screws strip or the mounting plate loosens, the door drifts out of alignment. A door that hangs a quarter inch proud usually means the hinge plate has shifted, not that the cabinet box is shot.
- Drawer slides grind, stick, or drop on one side. Cover drawers typically ride on side-mount ball-bearing slides rated for 75 to 100 pounds. When a slide loses ball bearings or the cabinet-side bracket pulls loose from particleboard, the drawer will still open but it will feel rough and eventually bind. This is usually repairable with a replacement slide matched to the original mounting pattern.
- Laminate edge banding is peeling at the corners. Fresno’s summer heat, especially in un-air-conditioned stretches during a power shutoff, cycles the adhesive on older PVC or melamine edge banding until it starts to lift. We see this most often on cabinet doors above the refrigerator and next to the dishwasher.
- Countertop seams have widened enough to catch a fingernail. Quartz and solid-surface seams are filled at install, and in Fresno’s dry climate the fill can shrink or the substrate can settle slightly, opening a visible line. A gap over a dishwasher that is wider than the thickness of a dime often means the appliance is no longer level and is pulling on the countertop.
- Soft-close mechanisms have gone loud. The damper inside a soft-close hinge or drawer slide is a small oil-filled cylinder. After about five to seven years they lose pressure, and the door starts slamming again. The cabinet is fine; the hardware just needs replacement.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included
For a full Cover-compatible kitchen remodel in Fresno, you are looking at $14,000 to $45,000 installed. The spread comes down to three things: how many cabinets you are replacing (a 10×10 galley kitchen with 12 cabinet boxes costs far less than a 20-foot L-shaped kitchen with an island), what countertop material you choose (laminate runs $2,000 to $3,500 installed, Cambria or Silestone quartz runs $4,500 to $6,500 for a typical Fresno kitchen), and whether you are keeping the same footprint or moving plumbing and electrical.
Our written price includes the cabinets, countertop fabrication, installation, hardware, sink and faucet reconnection, haul-away of the old materials, and the drop cloths and shoe covers we use on every job. You get that price before any work starts, and it does not change unless you change the scope. Every kitchen remodel we finish is covered by the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if something is not done right after we leave, we make it right.

Here is an honest split. If a hinge is loose, tighten it with a screwdriver. If a drawer slide is sticking, you can remove the drawer and check for a loose bracket. Those are safe, simple checks. What you should not do yourself is pull a countertop to re-level a dishwasher, re-hang a cabinet that has pulled away from the wall, or tighten a gas line behind a range you are sliding out to inspect the back panel. Countertops in a Fresno kitchen are heavy slabs; a 30-square-foot piece of quartz can weigh over 600 pounds and will not forgive a wrong move. If you are not sure whether you are dealing with a hardware issue or a structural one, call us at (559) 540-8453 and describe what you are seeing. We will tell you over the phone whether it is worth a service visit.
FAQs
The cabinet boxes and face frames can last 20 to 25 years in a climate like Fresno’s if they stay dry and the house is air-conditioned. The hardware on them, meaning hinges and drawer slides, typically lasts 5 to 10 years before it needs replacing, especially in kitchens with daily use by a family. Call (559) 540-8453 and we can tell you whether your kitchen is a hardware replacement or a full remodel.
In many cases, yes. Hinges, drawer slides, edge banding, and soft-close dampers are all replaceable parts, and a repair costs a fraction of new cabinetry. The decision point comes when the cabinet boxes are water-damaged, the face frames are cracked, or you want to change the layout, at which point a full remodel starts making more sense. We will give you that assessment honestly before you spend anything.
A typical full kitchen remodel takes 4 to 8 weeks from demo day to final walk-through, depending on cabinet lead times and countertop templating. We schedule around your family’s life, meaning we keep quiet tools during nap and school hours where possible, and Graham keeps a project calendar he actually updates when something changes.
We keep common replacement components on hand: 35mm cup hinges, side-mount drawer slides, soft-close dampers, and edge banding in standard finishes. If you are looking for a specific Cover part, call (559) 540-8453 with the model or label information, and we can let you know the same day whether we have it or can match it with a quality equivalent before you schedule anything.
Which Cover Models This Applies To

Cover kitchen setups in Fresno fall into two rough camps. The first is Cover’s flat-pack and modular cabinet lines, typically built with 5/8-inch particleboard or MDF boxes and thermofoil or laminate door fronts in white, gray, and wood-tone finishes. These cabinets usually have stamped metal shelf pins, adjustable legs, and cup hinges with a 35mm bore pattern. The second camp is Cover’s semi-custom and full-custom lines, where the boxes are often 3/4-inch plywood or thicker MDF, doors are painted maple or birch, and the hardware is upgraded to name-brand hinges and slides. The price difference between the two lines on the original install usually tells you which one you have. If you can find a label inside a drawer or on the back of a cabinet box, take a photo; the model number is usually printed there and will tell us what we are working with. When it comes to replacement parts, we match what is there: OEM Cover components where available, and quality aftermarket equivalents from the same manufacturers Cover has sourced from over the years. KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone are part of that parts and materials network for us, and their warranties travel with the finished project when we use them. One compatibility gotcha worth knowing: Cover has changed hardware suppliers at least twice in the last decade, so a hinge from a 2018 Cover kitchen may not match a hinge from a 2023 Cover kitchen even though both are technically Cover-branded.
