Cambria Home Additions & ADU: The Fresno Owner’s Guide
If you’re planning a home addition or ADU in Fresno that features Cambria quartz surfaces, expect to invest between $45,000 and $130,000 for a properly permitted addition, and $90,000 to $220,000 for a detached ADU. We install Cambria on additions and ADUs throughout Fresno including countertops, island tops, wet bars, and bathroom vanities, and we’ll give you a written price before any work starts. Most Fresno homeowners discover they need help when they realize the Cambria slab they fell in love with at the showroom has to be templated, fabricated, and installed by a crew that understands how a 600-pound quartz top behaves in an older house with floors that slope a quarter inch over ten feet.
That’s where we come in. We’re Elmstead Remodeling Fresno, a Cedarwell company, and we’ve been putting Cambria surfaces into Fresno homes for years. We are an independent contractor, not affiliated with Cambria, but we work with their slabs every week and we know how to handle them from template to final polish.
Which Cambria Models This Applies To

Cambria doesn’t sell “home addition” parts in the way a manufacturer sells a replacement hinge. What Cambria sells is the quartz surface itself, in series like the Marble Collection, the Coastal Collection, and the Classic Collection. The part that fails or needs attention on a home addition or ADU is usually the fabricated Cambria slab, the seam, the edge profile, or the substrate beneath it.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha most Fresno owners don’t know until it bites them: Cambria slabs are 3 centimeters thick, not 2. Your existing kitchen cabinets may have been built for 2cm laminate or granite. If your addition or ADU is getting Cambria on existing cabinets that came with the house, we have to check the cabinet deck height, the overhang span, and whether the cabinet frames can carry 18 to 20 pounds per square foot. In older Fresno neighborhoods like the Tower District, where cabinets from the 1960s are still common, we often need to reinforce the cabinet tops before the Cambria goes on.
When we quote a Cambria installation for an addition or ADU, we identify the exact slab by its Cambria series name and SKU, we record the edge profile (eased, pencil, or ogee), and we note the seam location on the plan. That written spec travels with the project so there’s no confusion about which slab is being installed.

Signs Your Cambria Home Addition & ADU Installation Is Failing
- A seam that’s opening or catching crumbs. Cambria seams should sit nearly flush. If yours is opening, the substrate or the floor beneath it has moved, or the seam was filled under stress. In Fresno, seasonal soil movement in neighborhoods built on expansive clay like parts of Clovis does this.
- A dull spot that doesn’t polish back. Cambria is non-porous, but aggressive cleaners or a dragging cast iron pan can haze the resin. If a dull patch spreads, the surface polish has been compromised.
- Hairline cracks near a cooktop cutout. The corners of a cooktop cutout are stress points. If the fabricator didn’t radius the inside corners enough, or if the slab wasn’t properly supported, you’ll see a crack start there and run.
- Water staining on the cabinet face below the edge. This usually means the seam or the sink flange isn’t sealed properly. Cambria itself won’t stain, but the oak or MDF cabinets below will.
- A slab that’s gone “dead” under your knuckles. Tap the surface. A supported Cambria top feels solid. A hollow thud near the overhang means the subtop is warped or the support brackets are undersized.
Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For a Fresno home addition or ADU, Cambria fabrication and installation typically falls between $2,000 and $6,500 per surface depending on square footage, edge profile, and whether the slab is a stock color or a design series. That’s the countertop installation portion. The full addition or ADU build, including framing, drywall, electrical, plumbing, and Cambria surfacing, runs $45,000 to $130,000 for an addition and $90,000 to $220,000 for a detached ADU.
What’s included in our Cambria work: the template appointment, the slab fabrication, delivery, installation, seam fill, and cleanup. We also include the written price before we start, shoe covers and drop cloths on every visit, and a photo of the clean-up before the crew leaves. If a seam opens or an edge chips within the first year, the 365-Day Done Right Promise means we come back and make it right, no change order, no argument.

AfterDIY or Call Us?
Cambria is not a DIY product. A full slab weighs 600 pounds or more, and a bad lift can crush fingers or crack the slab in half. Even a small vanity top is a two-person job with proper suction cups and a clear path. What you can do safely: check your seams with a credit card to see if they’re flush, look for water stains beneath the edge, and call us with what you find.
The DIY failures we see most often in Fresno are slabs dropped in doorways, seams built on unlevel subtops, and overhangs that don’t have support brackets. None of those are worth the hospital bill or the replacement slab. Call (559) 540-8453 and we’ll send someone who templates it right the first time.
FAQs

Cambria quartz carries a manufacturer lifetime warranty and should last the life of the addition itself when installed correctly. The quartz won’t wear out. The things that fail are usually the seam, the substrate, or the support brackets, which is why we install with a 365-Day Done Right Promise. Call (559) 540-8453 for an exact assessment of your existing surface.
Small chips can be filled and polished by a fabricator who knows quartz. Cracks that run through the slab cannot be reliably repaired; the structural integrity is gone and the crack will keep spreading. We’ll tell you honestly which one you have because our written price means we don’t profit from selling a replacement you don’t need.
From template to installed slab is typically 5 to 10 business days. The template takes about an hour, fabrication runs 3 to 7 days depending on the color and edge, and installation is a half-day for a kitchen. Graham Stein keeps the project calendar current and writes every scope detail down before anything comes off the truck.
We order Cambria through the local distribution network and coordinate the template with your project schedule. We don’t warehouse slabs in Fresno, but we handle the order, the fabrication, and the install so you’re not chasing three different companies. We also work with KraftMaid cabinets, Silestone, and Kohler fixtures for the rest of the addition or ADU.
