Atlas Kitchen Remodeling: The Fresno Owner’s Guide
We install and service Atlas-compatible kitchen remodeling components throughout Fresno, with most full kitchen remodels running between $14,000 and $45,000 depending on cabinet count, countertop material, and the condition of the existing plumbing and electrical. Owners typically find us after a cabinet hinge has stripped out, a drawer glide has snapped, or a countertop seam has opened up and they need to know whether the fix is a repair or a replacement. Fair warning: half the time the part itself is fine, and the real issue is the substrate behind it or the way the original install was done.
Which Atlas Models This Applies To

Atlas kitchen cabinetry and components are built to a few different spec levels, and the part that fits one line will not always seat correctly in another. If you can find a sticker on the inside of a drawer box or on the underside of a shelf, the series code will be printed there. The key specs to check are the hinge boss spacing (the distance between the two screws on euro-style hinges), the drawer runner depth (13-inch verses 18-inch slides are the usual split), and the shelf pin diameter, which on older Atlas lines is 5mm and on newer ones is a hair under 3mm. Grab a tape measure and check the spacing before you order anything.
On the OEM-versus-aftermarket decision for Atlas specifically: original Atlas hinges and glides are well made, but the mounting patterns are common enough that a Blum, Grass, or Salice equivalent often fits without redrilling. For soft-close dampers and drawer glides specifically, we prefer the aftermarket brands because they take the wear and cost less than half of the OEM part. The exception is any Atlas decorative hardware with a matched finish profile. Those are harder to substitute without the color drifting, and we recommend staying OEM when the visible reveal matters.

Signs Your Atlas Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing
- Drawer fights you halfway out, then drops hard. The nylon wheel on the runner has flattened on one side, or the ball bearing cage has shed a bearing. On Atlas units we see this most on the three-drawer bank next to the stove, where heat cycling is worst.
- Door hangs a quarter inch low and will not square up. The hinge boss screws have wallowed out the particle board behind them. Tightening them again rarely lasts more than a few weeks, because the board under the screw is the part that failed.
- Soft-close stopped being soft. The damper piston inside the hinge or the drawer slide cartridge is blown, which happens faster in Fresno summers when the house has no whole-house fan and the cabinet interiors bake.
- Laminate edge is lifting or the seam has opened. On Atlas laminate countertops, the adhesive bond has a lifespan, and once it lets go the MDF under it starts wicking moisture. The repair window is narrow before the core swells.
- Cabinet box has shifted off the wall, or the face frame is pulling away. This is rarely an Atlas manufacturing issue. It’s usually the original installer’s fastener pattern, and in older Fresno homes with plaster walls it is a common failure point.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For a full kitchen remodel in Fresno, you are looking at $14,000 to $45,000. The spread comes down to cabinet line and count, countertop material, whether we are pulling permits, and what the walls and floors look like once we open them. A small galley kitchen with laminate counters and stock cabinets sits at the low end. A kitchen with custom sizing, a Cambria or Silestone top, and a layout change lands at the high end.
Smaller jobs run like this: cabinet installation alone is $4,000 to $13,000, countertops are $2,000 to $6,500, a backsplash is $800 to $2,500, and a kitchen island is $3,000 to $10,000. Every job gets a written price before anything comes off the truck. That price includes the parts, the labor, the drop cloths and shoe covers, and the clean-up photo at the end. The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the work we do. If something is not right after the job is finished, we make it right. That includes the drawer glides, hinges, and hardware we installed.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check the part number, measure the runner depth, and take photos of the label before you call. That saves a trip and helps us match the part the first time. Replacing a single cabinet hinge or a drawer glide is a fifteen-minute job if the screw holes are solid and the part matches. We are honestly fine with you doing that yourself, and we will tell you the part number over the phone so you can order it.
Where DIY goes sideways on Atlas parts is misdiagnosis. You replace the hinge, the door still sags, and the real problem was the stripped particle board behind the hinge boss. Or you replace the drawer glide and the drawer still sticks because the drawer box itself has racked out of square. That is the hour where a pro saves you two weekends and a load of returned parts. Also: nothing on the cabinet side of a kitchen remodel involves high-tension springs or live electrical, so the safety risk here is limited. The main danger is opening a wall behind a cabinet and finding wiring you did not expect, which is exactly when you should stop and call us at (559) 540-8453 instead of pushing through. We are happy to come out, diagnose what is actually wrong, and give you a written price before any work starts.
FAQs

Atlas cabinet boxes themselves routinely last 20 to 30 years in Fresno homes, but the hardware like hinges, glides, and soft-close dampers typically fails in the 7 to 15 year range because of the heat cycling in our summers and the fine dust that works into moving parts. The box usually outlives the moving parts by a decade.
It depends on what failed. A blown soft-close damper can be pressed out and replaced without changing the hinge if the mounting pattern matches. A wallowed hinge boss behind the screw requires rebuilding the bored hole with a plug and redrilling, which is a repair we do regularly. A bent drawer runner is not repairable and gets replaced. Call (559) 540-8453 and describe the symptom. We will tell you which one you have before we even send a truck.
A typical Elmstead Remodeling Fresno kitchen remodel runs 3 to 6 weeks, with cabinet and countertop templating adding time at the front end. Full gut renovations with layout changes and permit inspections run longer. We will give you a project calendar before we start, and we keep it updated if the tile does not care about your timeline.
We carry the most common Atlas-compatible euro hinge patterns, drawer glide lengths, soft-close dampers, and shelf pins on the truck, along with matched Blum, Grass, and Salice equivalents. If your part is a less common finish or a discontinued Atlas profile, we get it on order and you will know the timeline up front. We also work with KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone components for kitchens that mix brands.
