ActiveYards Driveway & Pavers: The Fresno Owner’s Guide
We stock and install ActiveYards-compatible driveway and paver components for Fresno homeowners, with typical installed pricing for a full paver driveway running $7,000 – $18,000 depending on square footage, base condition, and pattern choice. Most part replacements, like cracked paver swaps or edge restraint repair, can be quoted and scheduled within a week. The way owners usually find us: a paver has cracked under a car tire, a section has settled into a dip after a heavy rain, or the edge restraint has popped loose and the border pavers are starting to wander.
Which ActiveYards Models This Applies To
ActiveYards produces modular paver and paver-grid systems designed to interlock, which means the part you need depends on your specific series and run date. Some ActiveYards lines use a 16″×16″ tray with a snap-in grid, while older runs used a 12″×12″ format; the two are not interchangeable even though they look similar at a glance. If you still have the original paperwork, the series name is usually printed on the delivery ticket or stamped on the underside of a tray. No paperwork? Flip a paver over: ActiveYards molds a small batch code into the underside of most trays, and a photo of that code plus a tape measure held against one cell is usually enough for us to identify it correctly. For ActiveYards specifically, we recommend OEM trays when the pavers are less than eight years old so the color stays matched; older installations where the run has been discontinued often accept a quality aftermarket grid at a lower cost, and we’ll show you both prices before you choose. We also keep current parts references for KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone, so if you’re mid-project and need a matching component from one of those lines, we can usually source it through the same order.

Signs Your ActiveYards Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Cracked or split paver cells near the wheel paths. Fresno’s summer heat cycles expand the plastic grid, and years of sun exposure make the cells brittle. Once a cell wall cracks, the paver loses its interlock and starts rocking under load.
- Visible settling or a low spot that holds water after rain. The paver grid is only as good as the base beneath it. If the decomposed granite or sand base has washed out, the grid will follow the void and form a dip your kids will find with a bicycle tire.
- Edge restraints pulling away from the border. ActiveYards edge pins are designed for specific soil conditions. Fresno’s clay-heavy soil expands and contracts with moisture, and over time the spikes can work loose, letting the outer row drift outward.
- Grid cells no longer snapping together. Warped trays are common after five to seven California summers. If the connection tabs have deformed, new trays will not seat flush against the old ones, and you’ll feel a ridge underfoot.
- Faded or chalked paver surfaces with hairline cracks. UV exposure in Fresno’s dry climate concentrates on the top surface. The structural grid underneath may still be sound, but the surface layer has given up.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For ActiveYards paver driveway work in Fresno, a full installation runs $7,000 – $18,000 depending on total square footage, whether we’re reusing the existing base or rebuilding it, and the pattern you choose. A partial repair, like replacing a dozen cracked trays and re-pinning the edge, typically falls at the lower end of the range, while a full tear-out and re-base of a larger driveway lands higher. The difference in price almost always comes down to base condition: if the sub-base has washed out, no new paver tray will fix that. We write the exact scope, line-item parts and labor, before any work starts, and that written price is what we hold to. The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the completed work: if something is not right after the job, we come back and make it right.
DIY or Call Us?
You can absolutely do the diagnostic part yourself: walk the driveway after a rain and mark the low spots with sidewalk chalk, check the edge pins by pressing on the border with your foot, and photograph any cracked cells with a ruler in the shot for scale. What we would not do yourself is lifting and re-setting large sections of a settled grid without checking whether the base failed first. ActiveYards grids are low-tension and safe to handle, but if the base has washed out, setting new trays on top of a void just moves the problem six months down the road. If you’re unsure, call us at (559) 540-8453 and describe what you’re seeing; we’ll tell you honestly whether it is a parts-only fix or whether the base needs attention first. The estimate is free.
FAQs

In Fresno’s sun and clay-heavy soil, an ActiveYards driveway grid typically holds up for 10 to 15 years before the trays become brittle, though the base beneath it may need attention sooner depending on drainage.
Individual cracked cells are usually too small to patch reliably with adhesive in a load-bearing driveway; we almost always replace the tray, but we’ll tell you if your specific crack is cosmetic and can wait. Call us at (559) 540-8453 and send a photo, and we’ll give you a straight answer.
A partial tray replacement with edge re-pinning is usually a one-day job for our crew. A full driveway re-base and re-set takes two to four days depending on size, and we’ll put the schedule on paper before anything comes off the truck.
We keep the most common ActiveYards tray sizes and edge pins on hand for Fresno jobs. Less common series runs are ordered direct from the distributor, and we’ll tell you the lead time before you commit to anything.
